Allow earliest date to be set for imported tasks

Imported tasks currently have a way to set an estimated duration Eg: “[10m]“, which isn’t intuitive but functions. But there is no way to set an earliest date. I would like to be able to implement this into my imported tasks.

    This is extremely important for me, as the source of all my tasks come from Todoist, but I want to make use of the earliest date feature.

    For example, I have tasks that can only be completed on a certain day or time window (like “take out the garbage” or “reply to product launch feedback within 3 days”). However, the AI scheduler unhelpfully schedules them too early for me to actually complete.

    I see three options for implementing this, considering todoist’s limitations:

    1. Special “[-3d]” or "[1h, -1d]” notation, translating to “can be started up to 3 days before deadline” or “takes 1h, and can be started up to one day before deadline”. Would need to decide whether “[-1d]” or “[-0d]” or something like “[-]” represents “can only be started on the day its due”. This would solve 100% of my usecase.

    2. Leveraging todoist’s “deadline” feature (pro only), in which case the task date can be interpreted as earliest date and the deadline can be the due date.

    3. Adding UI in Morgen to allow modifying custom attributes that can’t be imported from the task API (eg, estimate, earliest start, tags). This UI could be in the (currently read-only) task sidebar, or in the AI planner alongside the “change estimate” context menu.

    I would be happy with options 1 and 3. This should not be too hard to implement and make the AI planner twice as useful for me.

    Sync start dates with earliest date

    Sync ClickUp and other external tools start date with the Morgen earliest date for the planner.

    What integration are you looking to add an earliest date to?

    I ask, as some tools have a ‘start date’ which we are looking to sync with.

      I am looking to have a few dependencies between tasks in Todoist to import them into morgen. Certain tasks should be completed before others. Without this feature, the AI planning frames are not useful to me currently.

        This sounds like task dependencies rather than the earliest date.
        I can see how the concepts are related but they feel like different features.
