due date and planned end default merge

OMG please do that. That is annoying that I move task to calendar, forget about it and then it just disappears. All other planners throw it to "Overdue" bucket so I can work on them.

Personally, I find it confusing to have a planned start/end, but a separate due date. On top of that we have an estimated duration. There's a lot of confusing redundancy here.

In Morgen, I have never seen the value in having all these different (conflicting) perspectives about when my task is due. Quite the contrary, it has led to mistakes and headaches.

I understand, when planning a project, I want to know when a task was planned, when it actually was executed, and what the delta is. But that's from a project management perspective. I don't use Morgen to manage my projects.

1. IMHO, in Morgen all we need is a due date.

2. I understand that a lot of folks probably like having a separate due date and a separate start date. That way we can track that yes, it was due yesterday, but I didn't actually start it until today.

3. I see no value in the "planned end" date, especially since we also have an estimated duration. This seems confusing, at best.

In general, I'm talking about the visible attributes of a task. If, under the hood, Morgen wants to track all this metadata… no problem. But exposing it and having Morgen and the AI act on it -- like I said, it's led to confusion and headaches for me.

To add some extra context to this - i very rarely want my tasks to be shown in my calendar (or things just get too cluttered). But i absolutely do need to be able to say that a task isnt due until a specific date.

My issue is that if i set the due date for a task, it doesn't actually disappear from my task list (even though i have the 'Show scheduled tasks' option unticked.). It seems the only way I can have the task hidden until it is due is to also set a planned date but then it appears on my calendar - making things incredibly messy very quickly.

It would be nice to have a 'Show due date tasks before they are due' or something to that effect as a secondary option for my lists so that I can choose whether i want to see tasks that have a due date before they are actually due (which in my case, i do not).

It would be even better if the scheduled tasks in the sidebar also had the date and time when they are scheduled (similar to the due date for tasks). I would actually love to have an option to set the due date to be the scheduled date when scheduling tasks that do not have a due date yet. For one this would let me see when tasks are due/scheduled (which I use interchangeably) at a glance on the task list, and would also show me uncompleted scheduled tasks in the 'overdue' task list.

In the 'view' settings in the sidebar you can "show scheduled tasks".

One of the killer features of Morgen is to separate do-dates (planned start) and due dates.

There's a lot of academic research that points to how effective this approach (in combination with estimated time) is for productivity in general and to fight procrastination that torments a lot of people. Speaking only for myself, this Morgen feature have made me somewhat 5x more effective.

Merging those two ideas, even if you could customizable them afterwards, would be a huge blow to this concept.
