Right now, the color for any subscribed calendar or event availability designated as "free" has its color automatically desaturated and lightened. You can designate the color you want the color to be in settings, but Morgen then applies the desaturation effect to the color you chose, making it impossible to make the calendar's color to the one you actually want. The effect is that these calendar events recede into the background compared to normal, fully saturated calendar events. For example, if you subscribe a US holidays calendar so it's easy to see all-day events that you need to schedule around or a birthday calendar from your Outlook account, it's not possible to keep these events bright and distinct. They instead look faded like a task that's been completed task or otherwise something that's unimportant and doesn't require your attention.
Another use-case scenario affected by the lack of functionality to fully control your calendar color is if you have a subscribed calendar that you also want to add your own events to on your own personal calendar but have all the events look like a single, cohesive theme. For example, if I have a subscribed calendar for shifts in the hospital, but I also have private practice appointments that I schedule myself that I want to keep track of with a single color representing "clinical patient care" responsibilities, it is currently impossible to do. I cannot get both calendars to have the same color even if I select the same color for both calendars because Morgen automatically modifies the shade of the subscribed calendar. iCal lets you choose the exact color you want for every single calendar you have. You should be able to do this in Morgen, too. There should be setting that you can toggle so that if you want subscribed calendars and events marked as "free" time to appear as they currently do, you can keep it that way, but you should also be able to turn this feature off.
There was a period of time a couple years ago when Morgen did not hijack your calendar colors, so I know that it's possible to implement it in the app. This seems like a pretty basic feature that shouldn't be too difficult to roll out. I switched to Morgen for its simplicity, beautiful design, and ease-of-use for Mac users who also need to work in Windows settings. I need this basic function to be added -- not more gimmicky AI features.
