Task list color applied to scheduled tasks

It would be extremely helpful if tasks scheduled on the calendar inherited the color of their task list, rather than the color of the calendar they appear on.

This would significantly improve visual clarity when planning a week, as it would allow users to immediately understand what kind of work their time is populated with (e.g. admin, different clients, activities etc.) without having to rely on separate external calendars.

At the moment, achieving this level of visual differentiation requires creating multiple additional calendars solely for color-coding purposes, which adds unnecessary complexity. Allowing task list colors to drive task appearance automatically would make the system more intuitive and reduce the need for workaround structures.

This change would greatly enhance weekly planning, task categorization, and overall readability of the calendar view.

    I have each class as a task list. Each task used to automatically follow the task list color when scheduled. This made it easy to see what i was studying and when. I do NOT want to have to redo my whole schedule and manually change the color of each task, especially because I have custom colors on my task lists.

    Thanks a lot for all the feedback and for detailing your use-cases. I fully understand your frustration + why color-coding by task list is important to scan your week easily.

    At the moment, we don’t have planned changes to this behavior in v4 so I don’t want to raise expectations that it will be adjusted immediately. We logged your use case here and we’ll look at it when we next revisit task colors and visual hierarchy.

    Well, I’m downgrading.

    4.0.4 is out and the issue is not fixed 🥴

    It’s such a bad tone when you have your users downgrade to prev versions of your software, just to fix buggy behaviour. Really is a shame …

    I honestly consider it a bug.
    Calendar events still DO inherit colour of the calendar, but tasks for some reason do not anymore?

    This feature worked amazing and was a logical and natural way to distinguish tasks in morgen by their types/source, etc.
    E.g. my sports list was green - so all tasks were green, work list is blue - all tasks are blue.
    Now everything is gray, but task lists still have their own colours …

    It’s so important for me that in 1 YEAR of using morgen it’s the first time I had to go to this forum and search how to create a ticket.

    Please don’t make me rollback to prev version where it worked flawlessly, but I can’t stand wasting so much time manually changing colour on every task to the same colour as the colour of task list - it doesn’t make sense guys 🙏

    I have the exact same request! Unfortunately I’m going to have to revert back to V3 for now (when you COULD do this — dragging tasks in from the task list would inherit the color you assigned to whatever group the tasks were in.) Not sure why this feature was removed in V4. Sigh. Hopefully this automatic color coding ability gets re-added back into V4 soon, so I can come back to V4.

    I agree with everything said here. I would like to add that the color did use to come from the task list (rather than the calendar). This changed to calendar color, after the color change feature was added in v4. However just like this post, I would also prefer the default color to come from the task list.
